Now that the bulk of the offseason craziness has subsided, here’s a look at a few players the Black and Gold might be weary of in 2022. Rookie minicamp is underway.
Usually, by this point, the majority of the wild trades and insane free-agent signings have already happened, and the New Orleans Saints have been a big benefactor in that regard this offseason.
Acquiring Tyrann Mathieu and Jarvis Landry, not to mention drafting Chris Olave and Trevor Penning, has set New Orleans up to be a prime contender in a weaker than normal NFC.
We spent some time last week talking about a few players that the Saints showed they have ultimate trust in. Now, we’ll look at a few guys who might want to step their game up a notch this season if they want to stay around.

Could the Saints find their next diamond in the rough? The New Orleans Saints have been one of the NFL’s better teams at finding productive undrafted free agents. Pierre Thomas, Deonte Harty, Josh Hill, Chris Ivory, Delvin Breaux, Jonathan Casillas...even Junior Galette...all were signed as undrafted free agents and produced in New Orleans for various periods of time.
The Saints are hoping they can strike gold again with this year’s class of undrafted free agents, and the good folks at NBC believe they have a chance. NBC analyst Thor Nystrom ranked the undrafted free agent class of each NFC team, and the Saints were given the second-best class in the conference:
The Saints are one of three NFL teams that have finished in the top-10 of my UDFA rankings all four years. The Saints, who check in No. 3 overall this year, finished No. 1 in 2019, No. 3 in 2020, and No. 7 in 2021. Sean Payton was notoriously aggressive on the Collapse

But the ceiling is even higher for the former 49er. While we anxiously await the start of the 2022 New Orleans Saints season, it feels like a good time to start previewing the new additions to the 2022 squad. What better source of insight for a player than the fans that covered that player’s former team?
We’ll start this series by looking at one of the newest Saints defensive linemen, Kentavius Street, formerly of the San Franscisco 49ers. Jordan Elliott of Niners Nation was kind enough to answer five quick questions to get a feel for what Street might bring to the Saints.
Kentavius Street played in 17 games for the 49ers with only two starts. How did he play?
Street was a solid player in a rotational role on a very deep defensive line unit. Street recorded a sack in each of the two starts he did make, which were the only two games that he logged 15 or more pass rushing snaps in. Street finished the season with 18 Collapse

2 DAYS AGO - New Orleans should be gunning for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Training camp nears closer, and all regular season schedules have been released. The schedule is fairly tough for New Orleans but with the offseason moves Dennis Allen and the front office have made, it’s hard not to feel confident about every matchup listed.
WEEKS 1-6: Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Minnesota, Seattle, Cincinnati
The Saints open up the season with three of their first six games in the dome (Minnesota game in London), an ideal schedule to start the season off hot and leave room for error down the line. Looking at these first six games, 4-2 should be the bare minimum. New Orleans has had the number of Atlanta, Tampa, Carolina and Seattle in the past. I expect to see some regression from these four teams (maybe Carolina progresses), and New Orleans’ defense should be more than enough to hold it down. Minnesota has somewhat had New Orleans’ number in the past, but these are two Collapse
